The Malaysian school curriculum is committed to develop the childrens’ intellectual, emotional , spiritual, and physical dimensions, as describe in the National Education Philosophy. Programmes and initiatives designed to develop a child’s non-academic capabilities are present both during normal class time as well as through a variety of after school co-curricular activities. For example, Islamic Education or Moral Education is compulsory for all students from Year one to Form five. The Ministry also has a requirement that every student participate in at least 1 sport, 1 club, and 1 uniformed body activity as a means to foster individual potential and talents, alongside with building leadership skills. Latest data suggested that enrolment and participation in such activities is high.
