The main job for an advertising executive is only one : that is to induce more people to buy the item in question, and that any effect that advertising has upon culture or values or language is unintended. The strategy adopted by advertisers has in recent times been a subject of controversy. The main criticism is that advertisers exploit human frailty. Today the main weight of advertising is on various media, newspaper, television, smart phones etc.
Those media makes it possible , to combine a remarkable variety of appeals. It performs a decisive role in bridging the communication gap between producer and consumer. It counsels, directs, cajoles, advises, educates and sells everything from real properties, virtual properties to the wealthy to soap and shampoo for the general public.
And in so doing conducts a dialogue with millions of people, in a profusion of media. Exponents of advertising base their defence on the claim that modem industry cannot exist without advertisements, and heavy initial advertising is necessary in order to build up a mass market quickly. There is the argument that advertising is necessary to get the consumer informed quickly of new products that evolved so rapidly. A further argument is that advertising increases total consumer spending and thereby helps to create a high level of employment and boost the overall economy for everybody’s benefit.
